Following the First U.S. Exhibition of Certified Portuguese Filigree at Printemps New York, The Value of Time Group Looks Ahead to Joalharia do Carmo’s Q4 Boutique Opening at Carrousel du Louvre
NEW YORK (June 1, 2026)—The Value of Time Group (O Valor do Tempo) celebrated a milestone moment for Portuguese jewelry with the U.S. debut of Certified Portuguese Filigree at Printemps New York. The event marked the first international filigree jewelry exhibition featuring Joalharia do Carmo artisans outside of Portugal, and the first exhibition of its kind in the United States.
António Quaresma, Founder, The Value of Time Group: “Certified Portuguese Filigree is one of Portugal’s most extraordinary art forms, but it has never had the international visibility its beauty, complexity, and uniqueness deserve.
We believe this is the right moment to bring it to the world. New York gave us a powerful stage, and Printemps New York gave us the right partner to introduce this craft to a global audience. Our goal is to position Portuguese Filigree where it belongs: within the conversation of jewelry making at the highest level.”

Held May 18–24 at Printemps New York, the exclusive pop-up exhibition introduced visitors to Portugal’s most intricate and culturally significant jewelry tradition through a rare live presentation with two specialist filigree jewelry artisans known in Portuguese as enchedeiras.
Throughout the event, guests experienced the artistry and mastery behind Certified Portuguese Filigree, a centuries-old technique in which ultra-fine 19.2-karat gold threads are shaped entirely by hand into ornate, unrepeatable jewelry works.
Presented in partnership with Printemps New York, the U.S. outpost of the renowned French department store, the exhibition marks The Value of Time Group’s intent to introduce Portuguese Filigree and other Portuguese cultural experiences to new global audiences while underscoring the Group’s commitment to preserving heritage craftsmanship.

The presentation also signaled a natural dialogue between Portuguese artistry and French luxury retail culture ahead of the Group’s planned opening of a Joalharia do Carmo boutique at The Carrousel du Louvre Shopping Center in Paris in late Q4 2026. The Group currently operates 13 brands across 53 retail, hospitality, and cultural experiences throughout Portugal, with its first international outpost being The Fantastic World of the Portuguese Sardine in Times Square. The New York jewelry pop-up at Printemps New York offered a preview of the offerings bound for the Group’s first international filigree jewelry boutique, set to open in Paris later this year.
The international expansion builds on The Value of Time Group’s broader mission to preserve Portuguese heritage by creating sustainable commercial models for ancestral crafts. One of the oldest arts in Portuguese goldsmithing, handmade filigree faced a significant decline in the late 20th century, putting the future of the craft and its specialized artisans at risk.

Since acquiring Joalharia do Carmo in 2021, The Value of Time Group has worked to reverse that trajectory through a vertically integrated model that generates demand for Certified Portuguese Filigree while supporting the artisans, certification standards, public education, and next-generation training needed to sustain it. Today, that work extends to the reinterpretation of traditional filigree motifs through more contemporary jewelry design, positioning the craft not as a relic of the past, but as a living expression of Portuguese jewelry and culture.
